Annual Fund

Thank You for Your Support

We participate in Annual Giving because education for our children is the most important investment we’ll ever make, and Waldorf is the foundation. To meet our operational needs, SWS has set an ambitious goal of raising almost twice as much as we raised last year. With this goal in mind, our family doubled our annual contribution to show our support. We hope everyone who can participate will also consider joining us and doubling their gift this year!

The nature of teaching is to give. At my first school, I did not give the first time I heard about annual giving; I didn’t understand why I was being asked as I hardly could pay my bills and didn’t have a car. When someone from development chatted with me, he said amount didn’t matter. I tried not to roll my eyes. I handed him a twenty and filled out the paperwork. He then met with donors saying every faculty member participated in annual giving and those donors gave generously. That made a deep impression on my 22-year old self.

We have a deep gratitude for the Sacramento Waldorf School, the teachers, the administration, the coaches, and the wider community. We feel blessed each day that our children can go to school where they can learn in a safe and positive environment. Knowing that tuition is not enough to cover all the costs, and that with 100% contribution from the entire community to Annual Giving, the school can apply for much needed grants, we are contributing even if it means we have to forgo something else. With our contribution, we can demonstrate to the teachers that we trust in them and in their work so that they can fully concentrate on their teaching and on our children.

When my two daughters were at the school, I was part of something larger than just my family as I watched the percentage of giving within our class grow each week. It made me feel part of a close-knit group of friends who all felt the same way about supporting the programs at our school which enriched my girls’ education. As a faculty member, it makes me feel appreciated to see that the community of parents whose children I teach support and value my work, which in turn makes me deeply grateful to teach here.

Our family contributes to Annual Giving to help the school continue to thrive, knowing that tuition alone doesn’t sustain the many benefits our school has to offer.

For me, participating in the Annual Giving Campaign shows my commitment to Waldorf education as a social cause. Donating each year ensures our community’s ability to build and maintain relationships, and to influence others’ enthusiasm to carry out our mission. Please contribute today. More than ever we need 100% participation!

A few nights ago our son announced that the world is made up of straight lines and curved lines. He was excited about this simple yet profound piece of knowledge that he had. Our daughter, who is 3 1/2 years older and loves to partake in conversations, chimed in “I know, we learned that in first grade” and together they looked at our dinner through the eyes of straight and curved lines. We believe in Waldorf education because it teaches our children how to live deeply in the world, how to see many perspectives and how to become a whole person. Sacramento Waldorf school is our second home, an extension of our own home where our children feel safe, feel empowered to learn and are encouraged by every teacher to become a thoughtful and responsible human being.

Annual Giving is such an important part of the values of our SWS community. By giving, your generous gift allows many children the ability to attend SWS by helping to fund the tuition assistance program. This is a core principal of our school and community. In this season of family, friends and reflection on all our blessings, I ask our community to contribute as you are able.
