  • Salary Range: $25–$38 per hour, based on experience

    Start Date: 01 August 2024

    We are seeking an experienced Music Teacher to teach wind instrument classes in grades five through eight, and Jazz Ensemble in the high school. The latter currently has around 26 members, with around 20 wind instruments and a rhythm section consisting of piano, guitar, bass, drums and auxiliary percussion. While we would ideally fill this position with one candidate, we would consider someone applying for just one or the other.

    The ideal candidate will

    1. Design and Implement Curriculum to develop skills in playing wind instruments, reading music, and understanding music theory.

    2. Conduct Classes and Rehearsals: Lead regular classes and ensemble rehearsals, ensuring students learn proper techniques and practice habits for wind instruments such as flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones.

    3. Assess Student Progress: Evaluate students' musical growth and technique, providing constructive feedback and adapting instruction to meet individual student needs.

    4. Collaborate with Faculty and help to organize performances: there are currently two performances each year in the middle school, and three in the high school, showcasing the talents and progress of students.

    5. Work closely with other music and academic teachers to integrate music into the broader educational program and collaborate on school-wide events.

    6. Engage with Parents and Community: Communicate with parents about their children’s progress, and involve the community in music-related school events.

    7. Continuing Education and Professional Development: Stay updated on new teaching methods, materials, and repertoire relevant to wind instruments and music education.

    8. Foster an inclusive, motivating and respectful environment, that encourages students to develop their musical skills and passion for music.

    Education and Related Work Experience

    A bachelor's degree in music, or music education

    Must be a proficient wind instrumentalist, and able to demonstrate correct technique to students. For the high school post, a knowledge of jazz, and how to integrate the rhythm section is important.

    A minimum of two years of experience as a music teacher

    Experience teaching at a Waldorf school and/or Waldorf training. Waldorf training is provided on-site.

    An understanding and appreciation of children from grades five through twelve

    Commitment to our school’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic plan, particularly regarding our work in DEIJ and anti-oppression.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality and a strong personal work ethic.

    Ability to interact comfortably with all types of community members, including teachers, administrators, parents, and students.

    Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite.

  • Salary Range: $20 per hour

    POSITION SUMMARY

    As the Bookkeeper, your focus will be to perform the school’s accounting tasks including timely and accurate entry of all transactions (particularly accounts payable), reconciliations, and month-end close. You will be responsible for running semi-monthly payroll and for the completion of cyclical processes and follows up to ensure timely completion of outstanding tasks. You will also possess a high comfort level working within online systems and demonstrate a commitment to confidentiality and proper record keeping.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. General accounting duties include reconciliations, perform month end close, collaborate with Controller to prepare financial reports.

    2. This position has a special focus on accounts payable, entering invoices into QuickBooks and ensuring proper approval, tracking, accounting, and payments.

    3. Process Receivables, maintaining record of receivables and reconciling AR.

    4. Processes payroll twice a month in Paycom. Works closely with HR to ensure that employee data is accurate and up to date with special attention to new hire onboarding, salary and status changes, employee benefit open enrollment and other changes that occur throughout the month as needed.

    5. Processes receivables and payables as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 2 years of experience in bookkeeping.

    Knowledge and successful use of QuickBooks

    Minimum two years of data-entry experience demonstrating both a high degree of accuracy and the ability to self-manage within established timeframes and processes.

    LICENCING OR CERTIFICATIONS

    A Valid California driver’s license

    Background clearances as required by government regulations.

    8. Comfortable asking for clarification or additional guidance when needed

    9. Ability to interact comfortably with a diverse group of people representing a broad range of styles and identities, including teachers, administrators, trustees, parents and students

    10. Positive orientation toward equity and diversity

    11. High ethical standards and a high level of discretion in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and issues

    12. Strong knowledge of computer systems and software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with accounting software is required; QuickBooks experience is strongly preferred
